I am an Assistant Professor in the Boston University Department of Economics. I am also a Faculty Research Fellow at the NBER in the Development of the American Economy program and a Faculty Affiliate at BU’s Center for Innovation in Social Science. I was previously a Junior Faculty Fellow at BU’s Hariri Institute for Computing.
I study economic history, labor economics, and political economy. My research interests include inequality, intergenerational mobility, health and mortality, and labor markets in the 19th and early 20th century US, spanning cities during the Age of Mass Migration and the epidemiological transition to the postbellum South.
